Pain in These 2 Body Parts Could Be an Early Sign of Liver Cancer – Know 10 Warning Symptoms

Liver Cancer Early Symptoms: Liver cancer can cause several warning signs in the body, many of which may appear very common at first and are often ignored.

Due to unhealthy lifestyle habits and poor eating patterns, cases of liver cancer are steadily increasing in India. Chronic liver infections caused by Hepatitis B and Hepatitis C viruses can also raise the risk of developing liver cancer over time. Recognizing the early symptoms of liver cancer can help in timely diagnosis and treatment.

10 Early Symptoms of Liver Cancer

Pain in the upper right side of the abdomen is one of the most common symptoms of liver cancer. Sometimes, the discomfort may also spread to the lower abdomen. This pain occurs when the outer covering of the liver, known as the Glisson’s capsule, stretches due to the growth of a liver tumor. Many people mistake it for gas or digestive discomfort, but persistent pain should not be ignored. In women, the pain may radiate toward the back near the bra line.

A noticeable lump or swelling on the right side of the abdomen may indicate a liver tumor. Some people also experience a feeling of fluid buildup in the stomach area. This should not be confused with normal weight gain or bloating. Any unusual abdominal changes should be medically evaluated.

Persistent pain in the right shoulder can also be linked to liver cancer. As the tumor grows, it may put pressure on the diaphragm, leading to referred pain in the shoulder area. Although often mistaken for muscular pain, it should not be overlooked if it continues for a long time.

Jaundice causes the skin and eyes to turn yellow and is a sign that the liver is not functioning properly. Urine may become dark yellow or brown, and in some cases, blood may appear in the urine. These changes occur due to elevated bilirubin levels and can be associated with liver tumors or liver cancer.

Unexplained itching can also be a symptom of liver cancer. When the bile ducts become blocked, bile acids produced by the liver may enter the bloodstream, leading to severe itching across the body.

If you are losing weight rapidly without dieting or exercise, it could be a warning sign. Liver cancer cells may release substances that reduce appetite, alter taste, and cause weakness and fatigue.

As a liver tumor enlarges, it can put pressure on nearby organs. If the cancer affects the left lobe of the liver, it may cause bloating, nausea, vomiting, and indigestion.

Some people with liver cancer may experience shortness of breath. This can happen when the movement of the diaphragm is affected or when fluid builds up around the lungs due to cancer in the right side of the liver.

Constant tiredness and weakness are common symptoms of liver cancer. This fatigue is often accompanied by rapid and unexplained weight loss.

Liver cancer can disrupt the normal flow of bile in the body. In some cases, blockage of bile flow may lead to infections such as cholangitis, which can cause high fever along with chills.
